1/28/2008 sientific J and impact factorsPUBLICATION STRATEGY By Jeremy Farrar 周航整理 (引用请注明出处)
* It doesn’t have the impact factor in that it is a new publication. 1/22/2008 What Will I Miss About FETP – Thailand--------- International Field Epidemiology Training Program – Thailand (IFETP) which the collaborative effort between Ministry of Public Health Thailand, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention USA and the World Health Organization that offered the IFETP to trainees from neighboring countries The program objectives are 1) to train epidemiologists with career interests in public health at the same time 2) Improve epidemiological services within the Ministry of Health. During the past 10 years, the IFETP produced at least of 25 epidemiologists to MOH. and others organization in SE Asia include Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia and China, IFETP alumni have proved to gain essential skills and experience and become technically empowered to apply epidemiology for disease control and public health development.
As the coming of 10th years celebration, A meting will hold in Phuket. My tight schedule has prevented me to attend the meeting in such a beautiful island, but I would like to express myself through the following words - I miss FETP a great deal... I truly enjoyed learning about and practicing Field Epidemiology. The curriculum was very comprehensive. It was on the job training and every international trainee had to focus on the field in our own country. Its leaders are working to make it a top-ranked among FETPs in the world, and its location in Thailand offers endless opportunities to experience artistic culture. Most important to me, the program really encouraged us to be self-motivated. Over the years, that has made me grow up.
When I am be able to conduct outbreak investigation in field, to help the job in my office, to present my studies in the conference. I find that I am a completely different person than unknown of field Epidemiology, unable to speak English fluently, unfamiliar with computer who stumbled into June course 2 years ago, nervous about meeting advisers. I’m certainly not saying that after 2 years I know Epidemiology all. In fact, I would guess that I know little to nothing about anything. I’ve experienced a lot, but still not in the real-world, scientific-world sense. But, the maturation process is cool! I want to be a medical epidemiologist and would never let go of my dream; never fail to embrace every second of working in the field; always value my “down” time and “bad” data as my adviser ever told me to do so. |
